Who we are

Founded in 1950, Doctors with Africa CUAMM was the first non-governmental organization focused on healthcare to be recognized by the Italian government. It is now the country’s leading organization working to protect and improve the wellbeing and health of vulnerable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. The NGO implements long-term cooperation programs intervening also in situations of emergency to ensure that services are available to all.

Doctors with Africa CUAMM is currently active in 9 countries in Sub-Sahara Africa (Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Central African Republic, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda) with more than 3.500 workers on the field of which 230 are Italians. Doctors with Africa supports 21 hospitals, 124 districts (in activities related to public health, maternal-child care, Aids, tuberculosis, malaria and training programs), 4 nursing and midwives schools (in South Sudan, Uganda and Ethiopia) and one university in Mozambique.
