End of the civil war, started in 1975, with general armistice leading to the signing of peace treaties.
2004
CUAMM supports the healthcare system in the delicate transition from emergency to development status, extending its intervention to the hospitals of Songo, Maquela do Zombo, Damba and Chiulo, in Cunene province.
The CUAMM nurse, Marisa Ferrari is killed in a traffic accident in Chiulo.
2005
An epidemic outbreak of haemorrhagic Marburg fever strikes Uige province.
CUAMM paediatrician, Maria Bonino, loses her life caring for the children admitted to Uige during the same dramatic outbreak of Marburg fever.
2012
The “Mothers and children first” project gets underway to guarantee access to safe child delivery and newborn care in 4 African countries (Angola, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda).
2014
CUAMM focuses its attention on mother-child health and on the fight against HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in three geographic areas (Luanda, Uige and Cunene). The organization is currently implementing an innovative project on the diagnosis of diabetes and hypertension associated with tuberculosis patients. This work is performed at the main Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) centres of the capital, Luanda, with a view to stepping up the diagnosis of non transmissible diseases related to tuberculosis, as diabetes and hypertension.
