On September 26th, Doctors with Africa CUAMM has hosted an international event at Rockefeller Plaza in NYC titled “Universal Health Coverage: adolescents health and wellbeing – challenges and best practices”.
The event was an opportunity to discuss on the theme of adolescent health and wellbeing and it was moderated by Gary Cohen Executive Vice President, Global Health and President, BD Foundation.
Speakers came from the private sector, private foundations, governments, bilateral cooperation agencies, NGOs; all together to remember the importance of adolescent as a key population to the development of the African continent.
We know that adolescence is a critical time of life; it is a time when people become independent individuals, forge new relationships, develop social skills and learn behaviours that will last the rest of their lives. It can also be one of the most challenging periods.
USAID, Humanity and Inclusion, WHO, Italian Cooperation, together for girls and World Diabetes Foundation has underlined the importance of investing in health and wellbeing can transform the lives of young people and generate significant economic returns, yielding a triple dividend: health benefits for adolescents, for the adults they will become, and for the next generation.
