In April, CUAMM has taken part to the first strategic meeting of the RHITES-N Lango project, in Kampala, in quality of implementing partner. The 5 years project, implemented by John Snow, Inc. (JSI) and funded by the American donors USAID and PEPFAR, aims at improving the use of integrated health services and strengthening the health system in the Lango Region.
With a population of 2.1 million in eights districts, the Lango Region, in northern Uganda, presents health indicators lagging behind national statistics. Following two decades of conflicts, the internally displaced population rapidly moved back to their homes, putting stress on the already fragile health system.
The first strategic meeting has seen donors, implementing partners and local and national authorities coming together to identify health system priory needs and define the first six months project strategy.
For CUAMM, in Uganda since 1958, this represents an opportunity to continue its effort to guarantee the universal right to health, working alongside the most vulnerable populations, particularly women and children.
