On the 11th November, the delegate of the International Relations of Doctors with Africa CUAMM, Andrea Atzori, World Health Organization’s Assistant Director-General for Family, Women’s and Children’s Health Flavia Bustreo, the president and the vice president of Becton, Dickinson and Company, respectively Vincent Forlenza and Gary Cohen, and the inventor of the ‘Odon Device’ Jorge Odon were received by Pope Francis, during the papal audience on Wednesday.
This meeting is a part of a series of initiatives to develop a program for the care of mothers and children that Doctors with Africa CUAMM wants to start in collaboration with the World Health Organization.
During the audience, the Argentine mechanic, Jorge Odon, explained to Pope Francis the use of his innovation, the “Odon Device“: this is an instrument that serves to facilitate deliveries, being studied by the World Health Organization, that believes it could bean effective and low-cost alternative to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality.
