CUAMM’s research collections

Thirty-one studies published in international journals in 2024 attest to CUAMM’s commitment to translating real-world field experience into meaningful scientific contributions.

Field Research 2024 goes beyond core evidence on maternal and child health—including studies on childbirth and best practices to make it safer and more accessible—and also tackles the pressing challenge of antimicrobial resistance, proposes new models for chronic disease management and infectious-disease research, and investigates emerging health stressors linked to climate change and shifting social behaviours.

Together, these strands populate Field Research 2024, a snapshot of CUAMM’s broader commitment to using research as a tool for action, for informing policy, and for understanding complex, resource-limited contexts. The collection highlights concrete challenges and solutions that have emerged directly from the field, with the ultimate goal of strengthening health systems.

This is a collaborative effort made possible by a broad research network: in 2024, 274 researchers from 118 academic and research institutions across Africa, Italy, and beyond contributed to the work. Thirty-one papers were published in peer-reviewed journals, and many more projects were launched across nine countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
