MAIN ACTIVITIES

  • Support the gynaecology and obstetrics area by carrying out clinical and ward organisation activities.
  • Monitoring the coverage and quality of services provided in the maternity and delivery room.
  • Take part in the introduction of procedures for the management of obstetric emergencies.
  • Contribute to the process of improving hospital management.
  • Collaborate with the other doctors to ensure the smooth running of the hospital in all its components, including the on-call guard and the night calls.
  • Contribute to on-the-job training and formal training of ward staff
  • Participate in data collection and analysis and supervise the management of drugs and medical supplies in the wards of competence
  • Cooperate in promoting access to hospital health services.
  • Collaborate in any operational research and scientific documentation activities.
  • Act as a tutor of a resident doctor involved in our Junior Project Officer program (if required).

Requirements

  • Degree in Medicine and Specialisation in Gynaecology and Obstetrics or equivalent qualification.
  • Good knowledge of English, French, or Portuguese (depending on the destination country).
  • Professional experience in gynaecology and obstetrics at hospital level.
  • Preferable previous experience – working or volunteering – in fragile or low income countries.
  • Ability of adapting skills and competencies to contexts with limited resources and capacity to effectively cooperate with the national staff.
  • Availability to stay in the field for 6-12 months.
