MAIN ACTIVITIES
- Provide technical assistance to improve local capabilities in the fields of planning, organisation and monitoring of services.
- Support the local authorities to improve the quality of the services provided in the peripheral facilities, also by carrying out supervision and training activities
- Strengthen the health information system and cooperate in the process of improvement of the system of data collection and analysis.
- Support the development or strengthening of the referral system, to improve the accessibility of peripheral health facilities and hospitals.
- Promote activities at community level to raise awareness regarding key health issues and health services provided.
- Ensure health promotion and education.
- Ensure coordination, monitoring, correct implementation and management of Public Health projects carried out in the area.
- Collaborate in any operational research and scientific documentation activities.
- Act as a tutor of a resident doctor involved in our Junior Project Officer program (if required)
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Medicine or health field or other degree (if the other requirements are met).
- Specialisation, Master or equivalent qualification in Public Health.
- Good knowledge of English, French or Portuguese (depending on the country of destination).
- Precedent experience in managing health cooperation projects or coordinating Public Health activities is an added value
- Preferable previous experience – working or volunteering – in fragile or low income countries.
- Ability of adapting skills and competencies to contexts with limited resources and capacity to effectively cooperate with the national staff.
- Availability to stay in the field for 6-12 months.
