Rehabilitation of Akwangi Health Centre

Uganda, Africa
Training in Africa For mothers and children
Although Uganda enjoys relative peace and stability, it continues to face significant challenges, including infrastructure and energy deficits and persistent socio-economic inequalities. Around 1.5 million Ugandans are living with HIV/AIDS. The under-five mortality rate is 46 per 1,000 live births (compared to 3.1 in Italy), while the maternal mortality rate stands at 233 per 100,000 live births.
In the Oyam District, home to approximately 510,000 people in north-central Uganda, we work to improve reproductive health and reduce maternal and child mortality by strengthening access to healthcare services. Alongside Aber Hospital and the Anyeke Health Centre—key reference facilities for communities in remote areas—the Akwangi Health Centre plays a crucial role but lacks adequate infrastructure to meet the needs of a population of around 150,000 people.

For the renovation of the Akwangi Health Center

  • For mothers and children
The centre requires essential medical equipment and supplies for a II and III level health facility, such as CPAP machines and portable ultrasound devices.
  • Training in Africa
The local team urgently needs new and renovated spaces, including proper sanitation facilities.
Rehabilitating Akwangi Health Centre will ensure continuity of healthcare services and expand coverage in remote areas, bringing essential care closer to the communities that need it most.
